Throwback: Marks & Spencer go 'DIY SOS' at Dress for Success

Just over one year ago, the team from Marks & Spencer’s Stratford City branch got in touch with us to talk about how they could do a small group volunteering project to help us out at our boutique and offices in East London.

Through the determination and passion of the store’s Plan Acoordinator Blanch and her colleague Emma, what was to be a small volunteer project soon developed into a fully-blown ‘DIY SOS’ style project, with four teams from their Stratford City store coming in and transforming our premises in the first week of June.

In four days we saw around 30 Marks & Spencers volunteers spark something good and get stuck in and work tirelessly to overhaul our reception area, removing our old kitchen to make way for new storage space, transform our office space, as if this were not a mean enough feat of its own, deep-cleaning our car park and rear patio area.

We also later received over £2500 in surplus Philips LED lighting in partnership between M&S and Philips which has enabled us to be more energy efficient and to boost the quality of lighting throughout the building, not least in our boutique. Thanks to this, we now use 100% LED lighting throughout our premises - further support we have received as part of Plan A.

Thank you Marks & Spencer!
